Water Safety NZ recommends that if you or your child are going to be swimming at the beach, river or lake or doing any aquatic activity on the water, the minimum survival distance is 200 metres of continuous swimming. If you or your child are not able to maintain this distance, swimming lessons and or regular swimming should be part of your routine. There’s also excellent health benefits, and swimming can be a great way to maintain fitness levels and cross-train for other sports. We have fitness squads for advanced swimmers to maintain their fitness and technique.
