POOL SUPERVISION POLICY

Please help us keep your children and families safe at our pool by following these simple rules

Actively supervised means

  1. Watching your children at all times and able to provide immediate help.
  2. At a close distance where you can see, hear and be heard by your child.

Any additional children will require an extra caregiver 16 years and older.

We are proud to have developed our supervision rules in line with NZ Safety standards for aquatic facilities to help us, help you, keep your children safe.

Wristbands

Wristbands will be issued on arrival so that your children are easily identified by our lifeguards.

Wristband Rules: 

  • Children under 5 years plus their caregiver must be wearing an orange wristband (unless child is 12mths & under). 
  • Children under 16 years must be wearing a coloured wristband 
  • All wristbands can be collected on arrival at the reception desk.

Pool Rules

By entering the AUT Millennium aquatic facility you are agreeing to follow these rules and any instructions from facility staff

  • Children under 10 yrs must be actively supervised by a caregiver 16 years and over. Please ensure that you are able to provide immediate assistance if required.
  • Children under 5 yrs must have a caregiver in the pool with them at all times (2 children per caregiver).
  • No food or glass on poolside.
  • Please walk on poolside – no running!
  • Diving into the main pool is permitted only. No bombing or flipping.
  • Swimming lanes have been assigned specific speeds to ensure you get the most out of your swim. Please don’t bring any sports balls in the pool whilst lane ropes are in place.
  • Please ensure that you wear appropriate swimwear. No cotton clothing, underwear or workout gear. If you are unsure please speak to a lifeguard.
  • We recommend that you shower before swimming.
  • No changing on poolside, please use changing rooms.
  • Toddlers must wear swim nappies. These are available to purchase at reception.
  • No photography or videos are permitted poolside without prior approval from AUT Millennium.
  • Do not swim for at least 2 weeks after having diarrhoea.
  • Always follow the directions of our lifeguards. They are the most qualified to make decisions in this environment.
  • To ensure the enjoyment of others please note that the public lanes are to be used for lap swimming and Deep Water Running. We are not a play pool facility.

  • All swim teaching and coaching in our facility requires a lane booking and prior approval by AUT Millennium. If you wish to enquire about booking a lane, please contact us.

If you require assistance please speak with one of our friendly lifeguards.

You will be asked to leave if you refuse the instructions of our lifeguards, or your behaviour threatens the safety and enjoyment of yourself or others.
