PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
AUT Millennium Schools Programme will work with your school to create a programme that suits your needs.
Theory sessions are offered for certain year levels, and an instructor can deliver these at schools or poolside.
Practical pool sessions are usually 30 minutes to two hours long, depending on your school requirements.
Coastguard Boating Education New Zealand endorses the AUT Millennium Schools Water Safety programme as part of their Safe Boating Education programme.
Coastguard Boating Education has been working with AUT Millennium since 2007 to deliver the Safe Boating Programme. The team at AUT Millennium is dedicated to providing as much practical, hands-on experience as possible, giving each student the skills to stay safe on the water. The Junior Skippers programme, part of Safe Boating, covers in-water survival techniques, essential safety equipment (such as correct lifejacket selection and fitting), the importance of communication, and taking responsibility for personal safety. Boating activities are taught in a fun, controlled, and safe environment. "We need to equip our children with the knowledge to make the right choices as they grow up — this programme does exactly that," says Sarah Psaila, Coastguard’s Safe Boating Programme Manager.
